The five women and seven men are now deliberating on whether Rewa killed Susan Burdett back in 1992.
Rewa was convicted of her rape 21 years ago - but two juries were unable to decide whether he was also responsible for her death.
The rapist's third trial has been running for two weeks in the High Court at Auckland.
Herald court reporter Sam Hurley was there when Justice Geoffrey Venning summed up - and says it was the last chance for anyone to speak to the jury before they retired.
