It's come as thousands of students flock back to Dunedin for the start of the university year.
Southern District Health Board says the 18-year-old woman is thought to not have been immunised against measles.
New Zealand Union of Students' Associations president James Ranstead says Orientation Week is a risky time for health.
He says the association really wants to make sure students are taking care of their own health and wellbeing.
