The Black Caps have dominated the first day of the first test against Bangladesh in Hamilton

The Black Caps have dominated the first day of the first test against Bangladesh in Hamilton

The visitors were bowled out for 234 after being asked to bat by Kane Williamson.

Neil Wagner was the best of the bowlers with five for 47, while Tamim Iqbal top scored for the Tigers with 126.

Openers Jeet Raval and Tom Latham guided the Black Caps through to stumps and will resume tomorrow morning at 86 without loss.

A chance to benchmark themselves against top ranked opposition tonight for the Football Ferns.

They face world number six Australia in the opening game of the inaugural Cup of Nations, which also features Argentina and Korea Republic.

Football Ferns coach Tom Sermanni believes he has a good handle on what to expect from the Matildas.

Kick off at Sydney's Leichhardt Oval at 9.30pm tonight.

Breakers general manager Dillon Boucher is already fielding inquires about their assistant coaching vacancy.

Judd Flavell ended his 13 year association with the ANBL franchise yesterday to take up the assistant coach role at the expansion South East Melbourne Phoenix.

Boucher says the phone and inbox has already started pinging.

Dillon Boucher says of those initial inquiries, none were from New Zealand coaches.

And the Rugby League Players Association will support any player who takes legal action against the NRL over controversial changes to its behavioural policy.

The ARL Commission has altered its rules governing behaviour so that players accused of serious crimes can be stood down.

RLPA chief executive Ian Prendergast says the union will back any members who exercised their legal rights.
