The Australian has won the 100th edition near Queenstown, claiming a two shot victory over compatriot Ashley Hall and kiwi Josh Geary.
First-year pro Murray says seeing the winner's cheque was a pretty cool novelty.
He says starting his career like this is huge and to win the 100th NZ Open is hard to put into words and he'll continue to come back and support the tournament.
Meanwhile Lydia Ko has finished tied for 11th, 10 shots off the pace at the latest LPGA tournament in Singapore.
