An inquiry's being launched into the health system and its impacts on Maori

It'll be led by the Maori Affairs Select Committee.

Maori Council executive director, Matthew Tukaki, hopes it'll address disparity in the health system.

He says Maori lives shorter lives, and Maori babies are less likely to survive past the first year than non-Maori.
