The Warriors forward has been suspended for the opening match against the Bulldogs for a drink-driving incident.

It's understood that Papali'i was breath tested at a compulsory stop when he was shifting his car between paddocks at the Rhythm and Vines New Year's festival.

Coach Stephen Kearney has told the New Zealand Herald it's a lesson for Papali'i.

The Warriors side for round one will be named this evening.
