The sentence of an Auckland rugby coach found guilty of sexually abusing young boys, could be appealed
12 March 2019
56-year-old Alosio Taimo was found guilty on 95 charges of sexually abusing young boys aged between 9 and 16 years old.
He's already been sentenced to 22 years behind bars for the abuse, which spanned three decades.
Justice Simon Moore ordered him to serve a minimum of 10 years, but the Crown's appealed the sentence.
It's understood they'll argue for preventive detention - which would mean if Taimo were released, he'd continue to be under the management and monitoring of Corrections for the rest of his life.
