Western Springs College has wholeheartedly backed the movement - even providing a space for students to organise the day.
Meanwhile the country's biggest secondary school, Rangitoto College will be marking students attending the strike as absent - "explained but unjustified".
But New Zealand's biggest primary school is firmly against any students attending.
Principal of Finlayson Park School in Manurewa, Shirley Maihi says they try to keep kids in class for every school day unless they're sick - and they don't intend to change that.
