The suspect in the Christchurch terror attacks had five guns, and that's prompted our Prime Minister to promise changes to our gun laws

The suspect in the Christchurch terror attacks had five guns, and that's prompted our Prime Minister to promise changes to our gun laws

Australian Brenton Tarrant has appeared in court in Christchurch on one murder charge.

Forty-nine people were injured in the shootings at two mosques in the city, and 90 treated for gunshot wounds.

Jacinda Ardern says the accused got a gun license in 2017 and began acquiring weapons soon after.

She says the weapons in his possession for this attack included two semi-automatic weapons, two rifles and one other.

Ardern says people would question why an individual would have access to a semi-automatic weapon.
