Vigils have taken place in main centres around the country, with more planned throughout today

Vigils have taken place in main centres around the country, with more planned throughout today

Hundreds attended a vigil in Auckland's Aotea Square yesterday afternoon - to show solidarity against racism, hate and Islamaphobia.

This afternoon, a prayer service will be held at Auckland's Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

Members of the local Ponsonby Mosque across the road have been invited, and the service will conclude with a procession to the mosque to lay floral tributes.

A vigil will be held this evening in Wellington in Civic Square, and the Hamilton vigil will take place tonight at Claudelands Park.
