The 19 year old kiwi pole vaulter will compete at tonight's Sir Graham Douglas International Track Challenge, although McCartney is absent through injury.
McTaggart says she's trained with McCartney for the past three or four years and having her around's been great.
She says they stay in the same apartment, train together, eat together and do a lot else together and while they're different people they learn from each other.
McTaggart is hoping to beat her personal best of 4.46 metres by 10 centimetres to qualify for October's World Track and Field champs in Doha.
