Blundell won the race to be Tom Latham's understudy ahead of Tim Seifert because of superior glovework.
Pocknall says Blundell's List A batting average of 24 at a strike rate of 79 from 40 matches continues to improve, despite only one match in that format over summer.
He says Blundell understands his game better and is more versatile now, particularly batting in various spots in the order.
