NZTA say they're taking steps to make sure they don't have regulatory failures again

It's banned 300 heavy vehicles from towing until they've had two key parts re-certified - the drawbar and drawbeam.
A further 17 hundred vehicles are also affected - and are only able to tow 75 per cent of their load until they've been re-certified.
The Road Transport Forum say it's a failure trucking operators will pay the price for.
Regulatory review lead Steve Haszard says NZTA's building a new regulatory environment, with procedures that mean they hopefully won't have to backtrack like this again.
