A projected reopening date for a vital Westland bridge has been pushed back
11 April 2019
The Waiho Bridge washed away two weeks ago - cutting off the road between Fox and Franz Josef.
It had been due to reopen tomorrow.
But NZTA maintenance manager Moira Whinham says they've had two days of rain and rising river levels.
She says there's at least two days of work to do fastening the bridge to its support piers - and they can't start until the river drops.
State Highway 6 is also closed at Haast Pass due to to another washout.
