A decision will be made this morning on reopening a section of State Highway One south of Kaikoura

A decision will be made this morning on reopening a section of State Highway One south of Kaikoura

The road was closed late yesterday after a rock fall.

A rock the size of two basketballs fell from a height south of the Parititahi road tunnels and landed on vehicle.

The car was damaged, but the driver - the sole occupant - escaped serious injury.

Geotechnical advisors will make a decision on whether to re-open the road at 9am.
