The future of New Zealand women's sevens will be on full display at this weekend's World Series tournament in Japan

The future of New Zealand women's sevens will be on full display at this weekend's World Series tournament in Japan

New Zealand will be without key players Michaela Blyde, Kelly Brazier, Gayle Broughton, Theresa Fitzpatrick and Portia Woodman, as they seek their seventh consecutive tournament victory.

Acting head coach Corey Sweeney says it's a brilliant opportunity for some youngsters.

He says they have players coming out of school playing their first tournament who are striving to be apart of the side long term.

New Zealand face Japan from 3:20, before playing Russia and France later today.
