Community housing providers hope the Government will take on a new campaign to help the gaps not covered by KiwiBuild

Groups like the Housing Foundation and the Salvation Army have banded together for the 'KiwiBuy' campaign.

They want the Government to fund existing programmes like shared equity and rent to buy schemes, to get more people owning homes.

Cara Stewart used the scheme to buy a home with her husband.

She says it's financially manageable as their mortgage costs around the same as their previous rent.
