Reports of a scammer attempting to sell people emergency torches in a Wellington suburb
23 April 2019
Social media posts say a man knocked on doors in Karori yesterday offering a free torch and then tried to bully people for money for it.
A police spokeswoman says they received a report of a man selling torches door to door but when police attended, couldn't find anyone of interest.
In 2017, a man went into a number of Wellington office buildings claiming to sell emergency torches on behalf of the city council.
Anyone with further information's encouraged to contact police.
