A revamped start to the women's tennis calendar could benefit Auckland's ASB Classic

The WTA Tour is undergoing a review of its lead in to the Australian Open in response to the ATP launching its World Team Cup in the opening week of the year.
The event held in cities across Australia is expected to dominate the sport's coverage leading into the year's first Grand Slam.
Auckland tournament director Karl Budge says his tournament will be part of any changes.
He says there are a lot of player jobs that week and the tour is starting to ask some questions around how they can maximise that and Auckland has been part of those conversations.
However Budge has confirmed the Classic won't be elevated to Premier level status in time for the 2020 tournament.
