The prison population has gone up since the end of last year, tipping 10-thousand

Corrections is putting the population jump down to the backlog from over the summer break.
However there's still a declining trend overall, and the population is 15-hundred lower than the Ministry of Justice forecast.
The prison muster was considered to be at crisis level in March last year when there were close to 11-thousand people incarcerated.
