    She has announced a major meeting bewteen overseas government officials and social media companies.

    Jacinda Ardern says some countries are already making laws to regulate social media companies - but it's not enough.

    The head of the New Zealand Bankers' Association is playing down calls for more industry regulation.

    A Consumer NZ survey shows one-in-five banking customers have been offered financial products they didn't ask for.

    Bankers' Association chief Roger Beaumont says a Government review of the industry last year found no widespread issues.

    The private sector is being called on to help create opportunities for young people living in country areas.

    A new report has found young people in the provinces are twice as likely to be struggling financially, compared to young Aucklanders.

    Inspiring Stories chief executive Guy Ryan works with hundreds of young people between the ages of 16 and 25 in the regions.

    He says technology means they could have access to the corporate world without having to move to the centres.

    A Waikato RSA's putting extensive damage to its local war memorial down to copycat behaviour.

    Ngaruawahia's ANZAC Day commemorations will be held at the town's cenotaph, despite the monument being vandalised.

    A two-metre slab of stone has been damaged, two bronze wreaths have been stolen and a plaque has been ripped away.

    Ngaruawahia RSA manager Chris Rollitt says it's disappointing to see, after Huntly RSA experienced a similar crime.



    However the site will today be tidied and the plaque temporarily reinstated in time for tomorrow morning's service.

    A company that's set up a free firearms registry is pushing for mandatory registration.

    People can now register their guns for free on www.serisafe.com.

    Director Keith Stoneham wants to protect gun license holders from theft, and reduce stockpiling of weapons and the resale of stolen weapons online.

    He says the goal is to create mandatory registration for all New Zealand licence holders.

    Netball.......The Southern Steel have beaten the Northern Mystics 66-60 in Dunedin.

    After a see saw start to the match, the Mystics were ahead 14-13 at the end of the first quarter, but the Steel then started to assert themselves.

    While the Mystics have battled to stay in touch, the Steel edged ahead to lead 30-27 at halftime. and maintained their dominance to the final whistle

    Motor Racing..........A decision to enforce further changes to Ford's all-conquering Mustang has provoked a response by defending Supercars champion Kiwi Scott McLaughlin.

    Supercars has determined the Mustang holds an aerodynamic edge over its Holden and Nissan rivals having won nine of 10 races this season.

    Rivals claim an unfair advantage and now the cars must undergo changes before next week's event in Perth.

    McLaughlin has tweeted 'nothing like fire in the belly.
