    Auckland's Southern Motorway northbound at Gillies Avenue is open again after a serious crash


    A section of State Highway 1 near Newmarket was closed from about 5.40 when emergency services were alerted to a crash.

    NZTA says the crash was blocking two out of the four northbound lanes.

    Initially expected to remain closed until around 10 tonight, the road was reopened a little earlier this hour.
