    Simona Halep's continued her bid to regain the world number one ranking in women's tennis by advancing to the Madrid Open final


    The world number three's beaten Belinda Bencic in three sets to secure a spot in the decider against Kiki Bertens, after the Dutchwoman beat Sloane Stephens in straight sets.

    Halep will overtake Naomi Osaka at the top of the rankings if she wins the title.
