Police are investigating a series of ram-raid style burglaries at commercial premises across Napier's central business district

In the early hours of this morning, two businesses were burgled after a driver reversed his sedan into the doors of a store on the corner of Dickens and Hastings Streets.

He'd previously done the same thing at another store on Dickens Street.

Police tried to stop the car, but the driver refused to stop, hitting one of the police vehicles.

A short pursuit was called off due to what the police describe as the offender's manner of driving.
