Today marks 75 years since Hutt Hospital was officially opened

Today marks 75 years since Hutt Hospital was officially opened

A square metre cake has been made for staff in celebration.

Since its opening in 1944, the hospital has treated nearly 2.5 million patients and performed more than 300-thousand surgeries.

Acting Hutt Valley DHB Chief Executive Dale Oliff says their model of care is very different to what it was 75 years ago.

She says the Hutt Valley is home to an extremely diverse multicultural community, and the DHB reflects that.
