American Tejay van Garderen has been reinstated as overall leader after stage four of cycling's Tour of California

American Tejay van Garderen has been reinstated as overall leader after stage four of cycling's Tour of California

Van Garderen appeared to lose the lead when he broke his chain with around seven kilometres left and failed to rejoin the peleton.

However he has retained the leader's yellow jersey with Kiwi George Bennett remaining 10th overall, 36 seconds back.

Provisional standings had Bennett up to 6th.
