Canterbury's measles outbreak is officially over ... but there's a warning
16 May 2019
Canterbury Medical Officer of Health, Dr Ramon Pink, says there've been two full incubation periods since the last case was infectious.
But he says the reality is measles are only a plane ride away.
Pink says other DHBS are still dealing with outbreaks, and all cases have come from overseas travellers.
He says the only way to stop the disease returning is to increase immunity by vaccinating.
The Canterbury outbreak began in mid-February.
