Blenheim District Court has imposed the payment on Picton-based Crafar Crouch Construction, after the man was killed in a dump truck accident almost two years ago.
WorkSafe Investigations chief inspector, Steve Kelly, says letting a non-licensed truck driver behind the wheel has meant a tragic loss of life ... and a grieving family.
It's not the first time the company has been before the courts.
Five-months ago, it had to pay out almost 320-thousand-dollars, for failing to protect workers from asbestos during demolition.
