Sam Cane will run onto a rugby field competitively for the first time in seven months on Saturday night

The All Blacks flanker will come off the bench for the Chiefs against the Blues, his first match since fracturing a vertebrae in his neck against the Springboks last October.

Chiefs assistant coach Tabai Matson says it's been a remarkable comeback from a horror injury.

He says he was very close to finishing his career through injury and it's given him a new perspective.

Fellow loose forward Luke Jacobson has been ruled out with a head knock.
