    Police descended on an area in Auckland's North Shore today after reports of a suspicious package


    Police were called about midday by someone reporting a suspicious-looking item in front of a property on Stanley Point Rd.

    It appeared the item was a piece of historic military equipment.

    Police say their main role was to ensure the public's safety.

    The NZ Defence Force Explosive Ordnance Disposal Team also attended the incident.
