Peter Burling and Blair Tuke have have given their 49er Olympic rivals a false sense of hope

Peter Burling and Blair Tuke have have given their 49er Olympic rivals a false sense of hope

They stormed to victory at the European Championships, in just their third major regatta since their return to the class.

Tuke says their rivals may have thought they had closed the gap in their first two regattas.

He says they would have enjoyed beating them in Genoa and Palma.

But Tuke says they were well below their best and it's a lot more pleasing to win knowing they have put down a better performance.
