A Chinese businessman is fighting extradition

56-year-old Li Zhang is living in New Zealand, and fighting a request that he be shipped back to Australia over alleged tax fraud.

Zhang is accused of defrauding the Australian Government of 10.5 million dollars, in a scheme linked to a luxury golf course in New South Wales.

This morning, the Auckland District Court has heard from Zhang's lawyer... who says his client will challenge the extradition.

Zhang was earlier declined bail, and will remain in a Kiwi prison until a full extradition hearing can be heard later this year.
