A cyclist has died following a hit-and-run in central Auckland

Emergency services were called to the crash on Queen Street, involving a car and a cycle, around 2.30 this morning opposite Myers Park.

The cyclist was taken to Auckland Hospital in a critical condition, but has since died.

Police have confirmed that the driver of the car fled the scene.

He's since been located and arrested.

The car involved was a silver Honda Logo hatchback.

Police this morning revealed they were trying to establish the identity of the cyclist, believed to be aged in his 50s.
