You can expect to hear some noise in Dunedin today, with more than a-thousand teachers turning to the streets

They're joining union member action at primary, secondary and area schools - around the country.

Otago Primary lead teacher, Jenny Albrecht , says Dunedin striking teachers will meet at Otago Uni's School of Dentistry just before midday ... before marching to the Octagon with banners, flags and chanting.

She says they're seeing the same issues as those experienced by other teachers around New Zealand ... people burning out, with a lot of schools having up to four teachers at a time leaving the profession.
