Aucklanders are in for an increase in the cost of water and wastewater services - but it's not to the heights many residents have seen before

Watercare has revealed the prices will go up on July 1 - meaning an increase of around 2 dollars 30 a month for the average household.

Chief financial officer Marlon Bridge says when the company became Auckland's water retailer in 2010 it significantly reduced the price of water.

He says even with the increase customers in Rodney, Waitakere, the old Auckland City and Franklin will still be paying less for water than they did in 2010.
