The walk to Cape Kidnappers has reopened... with warnings to avoid the area due to risk of death

The walk to Cape Kidnappers has reopened... with warnings to avoid the area due to risk of death

It was closed in January after a major landslide injured two tourists, but reopened on Wednesday.

There have already been more slips.

Hastings District Council member Ann Redstone says she thinks locals have walked the road during its closure.

She doesn't think there's much that can be done other than putting up signs.

Redstone says there are many walks around New Zealand subject to landslides.
