A second bridge across the Ashburton River is one step closer

A 94 thousand dollar investment from the Provincial Growth fund will pay for a detailed business case for the project.
The current bridge on State Highway One is a congestion point for traffic travelling through the town.
A new bridge would be a significant project from the Ashburton District.
It's thought it would cost 30 million dollars and could reduce SH1 peak time traffic by 40 percent.
