But he says it won't be changed until at least 2021, if at all.
The Super Rugby team's name has been subject to discussion since the March 15 mosque attacks in Christchurch.
The name comes from a series of Christian campaigns against Muslims in the Holy Land, between the 11th and 13th centuries.
But New Zealand Rugby chairman Brent Impey says Adidas have a deal in place for the merchandise and jersey, so it won't change next year.
