A marketing expert says Air New Zealand needed to change its tattoo rules

A marketing expert says Air New Zealand needed to change its tattoo rules

The airline has backtracked on its no-tatt policy, and from September all employees will be able to show a non-offensive tattoo and Ta Moko while working.

Research done by the airline reveals one in five New Zealand adults has at least one tattoo.

Brand strategist, Jill Brinsdon, says the company has Maori language and signage throughout its brand, and the rules were contradictory.

She says for the company to say staff could not have Ta Moko, while it's using the Maori language, wasn't right.
