Two men became seriously injured during the construction of a Southland milking shed - when a horizontal beam fell down.
It hadn't been properly secured.
The Invercargill District Court has fined Phil Stirling Building Limited and Duncan Engineering 150-thousand-dollars each, plus ordered them to pay six thousand dollars and four thousand dollars in reparation.
WorkSafe Specialist Intervention head, Simon Humphries, says it was a needless incident.
He says it's vital each contractor alerts the other of potential hazards.
