The Institute for Environmental Science and Research is carrying out testing at Bromley's Pest Control Research site, and WorkSafe is investigating.
The staff member was exposed to the chemicals two weeks ago at the site which handles, but doesn't make, 1080 poison.
Research director at the site Matthew O'Brien says they're supporting their worker.
He says they're doing everything they can to support their man and his family, as well as to assist WorkSafe with their work.
