Six regional flights have been cancelled and 22 have been delayed, due to fog restrictions at Auckland Airport.

A multi-car crash is also causing major delays for people heading towards the airport on Auckland's Southwestern Motorway.

MetService meteorologist Andy Best says the fog may stick around for a few more hours, but should clear rapidly about 10am.
