Mid-South Canterbury police to receive additional training following evidence planting investigation in drug case
Mid-South Canterbury police officers will receive additional training after an investigation into whether police planted evidence in a drug case
13 June 2019
The Independent Police Conduct Authority started an investigation after a man was arrested for possessing drugs in May last year.
He claimed police placed his wallet in a bag containing methamphetamine in order to incriminate him.
The IPCA found that while officers did not correctly follow Police procedures during the man's arrest, there was no evidence to suggest they deliberately mishandled evidence.
