LaMelo Ball has announced he will play in the Australian basketball league

LaMelo Ball has announced he will play in the Australian basketball league

The 17-year-old NBA prospect will join the Illawarra Hawks for the 2019-2020 season, before declaring for the 2020 NBA draft.

Ball is one of the biggest signings in the league's history, his brother Lonzo already plays in the NBA for the New Orleans Pelicans, and his father LaVar is one of the NBA's most outspoken figures.

LaMelo follows in the footsteps of new Breakers signing RJ Hampton, in bypassing the US college system in order to play professionally before trying to enter the NBA.
