Police are acknowledging a finding an off-duty Christchurch officer used excessive force

The Independent Police Conduct Authority says the officer used the excessive force during a dispute between his friend, and the friend's former partner.
Canterbury Metro Area Commander Superintendent Lane Todd says police have since been provided with conflict of interest training.
He says that's to ensure greater awareness and mitigation strategies.
The police officer involved has been given a disciplinary sanction.
