    Homicide investigation launched after 29-year-old gunshot wound man arrived at Wairoa Hospital

    A homicide investigation has been launched after a 29-year-old man turned up at Wairoa Hospital with a gunshot wound, on Tuesday night


    The man later died.

    Police have identified a scene of interest in the settlement of Mohaka, which is currently under guard.

    A forensic examination is expected to take place later today.

    Officers are investigating the circumstances surrounding the man's death and would like to hear from people in the Mohaka area who know anything about what happened.

    Anyone with information is asked to contact Wairoa Police.
