Auckland euthanasia advocate given three years house arrest for helping three people die
An Auckland-based euthanasia advocate will spend three years under house arrest, for helping three people kill themselves in South Africa
20 June 2019
Sean Davison, South Africa's leading euthanasia campaigner, has been sentenced following his arrest last year.
All forms of euthanasia and assisted dying are illegal in South Africa, but the court took into account that the families didn't want Davison prosecuted at all.
Davison previously spent five months under house arrest for helping his terminally ill elderly mother die in Dunedin in 2006.
