Scientists in a New Zealand Medical Journal report are calling for improved interventions and substance abuse treatment options

Authors Benedict Fischer, from Auckland University, and Massey University's Sally Casswell say if cannabis is legalised, it should be linked with tobacco control.
They say there are active efforts to protect tobacco users - and non-users - from smoking related harm.
Both scientists say the social burden of substance use in New Zealand is too high for the Government's inquiry into mental health and addiction to be neglected.
