Police are surrounding a house in the Napier Suburb of Onekawa, in an incident which has been going since mid afternoon

A man with a gun was spotted, and several schools were put into lockdown while the area was isolated,

An armed man is understood to be inside a house in Alexander Avenue. A negotiation team is on the scene.

Police are not releasing any details about the situation
