Only two of three daughters abused for years in Taranaki, will see their mother pay for her crimes

Only two of three daughters abused for years in Taranaki, will see their mother pay for her crimes

A third sister died in 2017, of a suspected suicide - after six and a half years of torment inflicted by the mother, who's now 35 and faced court today.

Documents show the girls - aged six, five and three when the abuse began - would turn up at school with no food, and wore the same clothes all year round.

All three were 'infested' with head lice, were often bruised all over their body and had seen their mother use synthetic drugs, P and cannabis.

In a videoed victim impact statement, one daughter said "I know my sisters were not a priority for Mum, but her drugs were."

The mother sobbed loudly today when sentenced to four years and three months behind bars, at the New Plymouth District Court.
